In the mid to late 1990's, Police organisations decided to
trial cars other than Australian made Ford and Holden models.
Regarded as a ram-raider's vehicle of choice, the Subaru Impreza WRX
also became a vehicle used by Police, primarily in traffic roles.
The WRX was trialled and evaluated in Victoria and NSW.
As can be seen in these January 2002, the Victoria Police's
TMU decided to continue to use the vehicles, photographed outside the
City Patrol Group's Melbourne CBD base. |

TMU sedan allocated to Melton Police is photographed while passing
the Fire Station. In the last photo, a traffic stop has just been
completed a few kilometres from Melton by the same vehicle. |
